Here’s my short story:
Born and raised in West Vancouver, I spent the majority of my childhood running around outside with my brother, playing catch, bike riding, and doing pretty much anything that meant getting fresh air all day and exercise (thank you Mom & Dad for that!). I grew up in a very active family. I always remember my Dad telling me it was important to stay in shape, and believe me it used to irritate me as a teenager, but guess what? It stuck. After school/college/university I worked in the banking world for way too many years before realizing this was not my thing. At all. I have always loved exercise and after having 3 kids, I decided it was time to switch things up a bit. Actually a lot. So I went into business as a franchise owner of a women’s kickboxing gym. There I realized how much I love motivating and helping people to get fit and be empowered. This is what I am passionate about! I became certified as a personal trainer.
Fast forward to now. After my marriage of 13 years ended and I sold my portion of the kickboxing business, I had to start over and find a new direction. I learned to face my personal and professional challenges and grow from them. Working out and staying in shape gave me the motivation, strength, and energy to move forward in my life. There were days I wanted to stay in bed. But I didn’t. I believed in myself and now I am stronger than ever. I understand what it’s like to be a busy, multi-tasking single parent with little to no time to spare and hardly any time to eat right and stay fit. But it has to happen. For your sanity, for your health, I could go on forever here. Living your life without exercising is like being at a party with no music. Kind of boring. Music lifts the spirit and livens things up, right? (as long as it’s not elevator music…). That’s what exercise does too! Here’s the thing, life can be really challenging (you could insert a variety of colourful synonyms here for challenging ;)), and many of those challenges we can’t control. Experience has taught me that what we can control is how we react to and handle those challenges. Do you want to bury your head in the sand, totally freak out and melt down, or face the challenges head on and gracefully? Hmmm. No brainer. My goal is to get you in shape physically and mentally. And for you to enjoy it at the same time. You may think I’m kidding. I’m not. I’m here to help you. I believe in exercise, and I will believe in you. Seriously.
If you want to get off the couch and get working out, be more consistent working out, or have someone tell you how to work out every week, let’s talk. I will set up a personal consultation to get to know you. We will tailor a plan specific to meet your goals. Listen to your inner voice. It’s telling you to exercise! What are you waiting for? You are worth it…
